Real Estate Video News - Week of 16 January 2009

Friday, January 16th, 2009

 Updates for this week:

Google Video Is Going Away: Mike Mueller reports that Google Video is closing down. Did anyone really think that a decision wasn’t coming in 2009? (Edit: here is the Google team’s blog post about it and also the cuts are deeper than just Google video)

Good news for this week abounds. New local video sites seem to top this week’s updates.

Phoenix Real Estate Guy Launches .tv Site:  There is now authentic real estate video available in Phoenix, Arizona. Well known real estate blogger Jay Thompson (a.k.a Phoenix Real Estate Guy) has announced that he was recently inspired to launch a real estate video site (http://phoenixrealestateguy.tv/).  Jay is a top notch blogger and twitter-person so we have no doubt that his real estate video site will be world class as well.

WoodStock, Georgia Now Has A Local Video Site: Website guru Desiree Scales has launched a Woodstock, GA specific video site, Talking Woodstock. This is definitely a site to keep to keep your eye on as a model for local real neighborhood and community videos. While not specific to real estate, it is a truly local community video site with video interviews from local community leaders and businesses. I’m looking forward to see what she does with this site.

New Real Estate Education Site Launches: A new real estate education site with live webinars and recorded sessions launched this week.  This site is a cooperative effort between the U.S. National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and the parent company of this website.  The site uses the same online real estate video platform technology as Vidlisting. The site offers premium and free content such as live webinars and recorded video content with international thought leaders in real estate.  Content will eventually be offered in 6 languages.

Scoble Adds To The Video SEO Advantage debate:   This is actually one of the more intelligent posts about the video SEO advantage that I have read. We’ve been sayingfor a long time that video SEO takes the same amount of work as text based SEO.

Looking forward to next week….
